A moi
le long.
Fabiana a préparé
professeur Gerardo.
Nous rentrons à 0 h 45, en pédalant vite. Les rues sont
encore animées, un dimanche soir!
The weather is nice but a strong
wind is blowing. Breakfast in the garden. Jens prepares the bicycles, infates the tyres and
puts stools at the correct height. They do not have antitheft
system and that's a problem.
We stay in our room to work and then go on bike, aimlessly in the city. The map of San Juan, rebuilt after the terrible earthquake of 1944, is like a grid, the streets intersect at right angles. Many streets are one-way. It is easy to get around, especially because at each crossing, a plaque lists the names of the two streets, direction north, south, east and west and house numbers in this "cuadra" (block).
We ride almost two hours, cross the city from west to east and then "crisscross" a little. Traffic is very light, people are still sleeping. The Sanjuaninos (residents of San Juan) are nocturnal beings, any dinner ends at 2am.
At 1: pm we start looking for a small restaurant with a terrace, so we can keep an eye on our bikes. Many are closed, those that are open have no terrace, so we decide to do some shopping and go eat in the hotel garden .
At one point, Jens takes a one-way street in the wrong direction and bad luck, two police-ladies see it. They stop him ... tell him to be careful and let him leave again. I am coming behind him and they tell me too to be careful.
At a junction close to home, a large banner hung above the street. It becomes untied on one side because of the wind and flies in all directions over the cars.
We picnic in the garden. Another couple is making an "asado " ( barbecue ) .
Quiet afternoon, swimming at 5:00 pm and after that we get visitors: Ines and Horacio. They invite us next weekend to a small country house they have, northeast of San Juan, near Rodeo. We are very happy to see them.
At 7:45 pm, we leave, by bike of course. We are invited by Marcel M and Fabiana, they live east of the city. Now we know the topography. A street keeps its name all along. If there is an obstacle, we must go around the obstacle and find the same street again. In our case, Córdoba street; it stops in front of the largest hospital in the city, Rawson hospital. But after riding around the hospital we find Córdoba street again .
Marcelo and Fabiana have also invited Rodolfo and Olga, good friends too. They became grandparents four months ago, and between grandparents we have a lot to talk about.
Marcelo told us we would dine early, everyone works tomorrow. But this notion of " early " is not the same for Sanjuaninos and for us. Marcelo makes of course, an asado . Fabiana prepared salads and the dinner is excellent. We dine at 10:30 pm, that is early here. Marcelo and Fabiana’s three daughters are here too, they have changed in two years.
We spend a great evening on the terrace. This is where we had, all of us, taken tango lessons in 2012 with our good professor Gerardo .
We ride home at 0:45am, pedaling fast. The streets are still busy, a Sunday night!
