On attend
lunch, journal puis blog.
me renseigne.
As usual, we take a tray with our breakfast to
go in the garden, but now we have a problem: rotating water jets water the
lawn. The whole garden is watered. We expect that the jets are oriented on the other
side and we pass quickly; we find a little dry spot in a corner behind a grill.
Here it is dry on a few square meters.
Jens leaves and I read news on the Internet.
This is strange this disappearance of a plane in Malaysia.
I read my schedule 2012 here on the blog, and
resume the same rhythm, that is to say going out on my bike at 10 am, back at
half past twelve, swimming, lunch, newspaper and blog.
I thought to visit a museum of fine arts but it
does not open until noon. I will visit it later, perhaps another time. I 'm
going to the Centro Cívico, the large, very large modern building which houses
all the services of the municipality. It really is huge, airy and full of light.
I am looking for an exhibition on the Agua Negra tunnel, the tunnel project
under the Andes between Argentina and Chile. Marcelo M. told me that there was
a model of this tunnel in the Centro Cícico. I toss and turn, go up and down,
ask several times and finally someone tells me where it is. The model is well
done but it is not easy to take pictures because it is in a box of glass and the
glass makes mirror effect. It will be a road tunnel and will shorten a lot the
east-west crossing between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Brazil,
Chile and Argentina are cooperating on this project. It will be 14 km long.
I also take pictures of the Bandera Ciudadana, a
kind of flag embroidered by women of San Juan in 1817. It accompanied San
Martin when he crossed the Andes in 1817 with 5,000 people to help Chileans who
wanted their independence from the Spaniards. I told this incredible epic at length
in the previous blog, Las Americas 2.
This flag is displayed and two soldiers stand
guard on either side.
I must admit a big mistake: I have not
photographed the most beautiful basurero I have seen
(high baskets where the trash is placed so the
dogs do not reach it ) because it was full. I thought, "I’ll come back"
and now I do not remember where it was. Big problem! I am looking and looking
for it ... I 'll keep you posted .
I ride home and, as in 2012, I do swimming lengths,
30 lengths so 12 x 30 m = 360 m. Then lunch, newspaper and blog. Jens calls me,
he invited Marcel P and Maria Teresa to dinner. Jens has tried to ask them for
8 pm, but it is unthinkable for them, it is too early. They accept 9 pm. I do
some shopping at Libertad (on bike). Maria Teresa is allergic to gluten, so I
read carefully all the ingredients of what I buy.
Jens comes home and we swim. I do 20 lengths,
so 600 m for the day. I hope to reach the 1,000 m, as in 2012.
We go together Jens and me, to the greengrocer
shortly before 7 pm but is closed. It reopens at 7:30 pm.
Marcelo and Maria Teresa arrive a little after 9
pm. We dine out in the garden, it's really nice now, not too hot. We eat melon
with cured ham, salad of lentils, tomatoes and avocados and a good cheese
plate. A flan (purchased) completes the meal. I can not cook, I have no utensils.
In 2012, we bought pot, pan, coffee pot etc . But we stayed 6 weeks. This time,
we only stay two weeks. So, we serve our guests salads.
We spend a great evening with these good friends.
I wash the dishes and then to bed.
